To find liked videos on YouTube, sign in and select Liked videos in the left menu on a computer. In the Android app, tap your profile picture, go to Playlists and tap Liked videos. The list is private, and YouTube's help says it displays a maximum of 5,000 videos.
You liked a video weeks ago, you can't remember what it was called, and now you want it back. It happens to everyone. The good news is that YouTube quietly keeps every video you like in one place, and it's private, so nobody else sees it. The less good news is that the list has a ceiling, and it only collects likes when you're signed in. I'll show you where it lives on a computer and a phone, how to tidy it, and what YouTube's help says about why a liked video might not be there.
Where liked videos on YouTube are kept
According to YouTube's help centre, liking a video adds it to a playlist called Liked videos, and that playlist is private. It only does this when you're signed in. Think of it as a bookmark you made without trying. You'll also find it described in the help centre's tour of the You tab, which says the videos you've previously liked can be found under Liked videos.
Find liked videos on YouTube on a computer
- Sign in to YouTube.
- Open the left menu (the guide). If it's hidden, click the menu icon at the top left.
- Select Liked videos. Sometimes it sits under You, which is the personal area of the menu.
- Click any video to play it, or play the whole list.
The help centre's wording is simply to sign in and select Liked videos in the left menu. If it isn't visible straight away, the You tab section groups it with History, Playlists and Watch later.
Find liked videos on the YouTube app for Android
For Android, YouTube's help gives these steps:
- Sign in to YouTube.
- Tap your profile picture at the bottom of the screen.
- Go to Playlists.
- Tap Liked videos.
On iPhone and iPad the steps follow the same pattern, starting from the You tab, but I couldn't read an iPhone-specific list in the help centre, so look for Liked videos among your playlists. Menus vary by app version.
Remove a video from your YouTube liked videos list
To unlike something, open the Liked videos playlist, then use the More menu beside the video and choose Remove from Liked videos. On the video's watch page, you can also select the thumbs up again to undo your like. The help centre notes that undoing a choice this way is gradually rolling out, so you might not see it on every account yet.
Shorts work slightly differently. YouTube's help says you tap a heart on a Short instead of a thumbs up.
Why a liked YouTube video might be missing from your list
YouTube's help doesn't give a troubleshooting list for this, so I'll stick to what it does say and then add the sensible checks that follow from it.
- You weren't signed in. The help says likes only go into your playlist when you're signed in.
- The list is full. The Liked videos playlist displays a maximum of 5,000 videos, according to the help centre, so the oldest likes may fall off the end of what you can see.
- You're in the wrong account. Likes belong to the account you used at the time. If you have more than one, try switching accounts on YouTube and check again.
- You removed it. Pressing the thumbs up a second time undoes the like.
- The video is gone. If the original was removed or made private by the uploader, there's nothing to play.
I can't tell you which of these applies to your case, and YouTube's help doesn't say. Work down the list, starting with the account check.

Liked videos or Watch later: which one do you want?
| Liked videos | Watch later | |
|---|---|---|
| How a video gets there | You press like | You choose Save, then Watch later |
| Meaning | A signal that you enjoyed it | A reminder to watch it |
| Who can see it | Only you | Only you |
| Where to find it | Left menu, or the You tab | You tab |
If your real goal is keeping videos for a project, Watch later or a playlist is a better habit than relying on likes. I've explained the saving options in my guide to saving a video on YouTube.
Do liked videos on YouTube matter for creators and businesses?
For viewers, your likes feed your own list. For creators, a like is a visible reaction on your video. YouTube's help centre doesn't say you can see a list of who liked a video, so don't expect that. If you run a channel and want a tidy way to collect the videos that inspired you, make a playlist instead. My post on making a playlist on YouTube walks through it.
A tip for small business owners: use a separate Brand Account channel for research, so your business viewing stays out of your personal likes. It's neater.
