Poshmark takes a flat 2.95 US dollars on sales under 15 US dollars, and 20% on sales of 15 US dollars and above, so you keep 80%. Listing is free, the fee comes off the final order price after the sale, and the buyer pays for the PoshPost shipping label.
Poshmark's fee is one of the simplest in resale, which is probably why people are surprised when the payout looks smaller than they expected. The rule itself is short. What catches sellers out is the final order price, offers and discounts. I've read through Poshmark's own Fee Policy and Seller Policy so you know what it keeps and why.
Poshmark's seller fee: the two-tier rule
Poshmark's current Fee Policy says it's always free to list an item. After your item sells, Poshmark deducts a fee from the final order price:
- Sales under 15 US dollars: a flat fee of 2.95 US dollars.
- Sales of 15 US dollars and above: 20%, and you keep 80%.
That's it for the standard US seller fee. There's no listing fee, and no separate processing charge on top. The flat fee is the one to watch on cheap items. On something priced just under the threshold, 2.95 US dollars is a big share of the sale, which is why many Poshmark sellers bundle low-priced pieces rather than list them one by one.
Why your Poshmark payout can differ from the estimate
When you create a listing, Poshmark shows estimated earnings. Its Fee Policy is clear that actual earnings will vary based on the final order price, seller discounts, fees paid, and any other applicable taxes and discounts. In practice, three things move the number:
- Accepted offers. The fee is worked out on the price you agree, not the price you listed.
- Seller discounts. Shipping discounts or bundle discounts you offer reduce what you keep.
- Crossing the threshold. An item that drops below 15 US dollars after an offer moves to the flat fee instead of 20%.
A quick check before you accept an offer: work out 80% of the new price, or subtract 2.95 US dollars if it's under the threshold, and see if you're still happy.
The short-lived Poshmark fee change
If you've seen talk of a fixed fee plus a percentage on Poshmark, you're not imagining it. Poshmark's own policy history shows a version, effective October 3 of 2024, that charged a fixed fee of 1, 2 or 3 US dollars depending on order price, plus 5.99% of the order total including shipping and taxes, along with a buyer protection fee. On October 24, 2024, Poshmark reverted to the original structure of 20% for sales over the threshold and 2.95 US dollars for smaller sales, and removed the buyer fee.
So any guide quoting 5.99% is describing a policy that lasted a matter of weeks. The two-tier rule above is the one in Poshmark's current Fee Policy.
Shipping on Poshmark: who pays
Poshmark's Seller Policy describes PoshPost as a buyer-paid flat rate shipping program, with labels sent straight to your inbox. Printerless shipping is available too, using QR codes at any USPS location. Poshmark notes that exclusions may apply for overweight and multi-label shipments.
Because the buyer pays for the label, shipping doesn't come out of your fee in the normal case. The exception is any shipping discount you choose to offer, which comes out of your side.
How and when Poshmark pays you
Under Poshmark's Terms of Service, funds from a sale can be redeemed through Poshmark's approved payment providers, or spent on items from other sellers on the app. The Seller Policy lists payout options including Direct Deposit, ACH, Instant Transfer, PayPal and Venmo, with what's available shown in your account.
Timing is tied to the buyer. A buyer can open a return case within 72 hours of delivery for undisclosed damage, an incorrect or missing item, an item not as described, or one that isn't authentic. Items that don't fit, or orders where the buyer changed their mind, are final sale under the Return Policy. A buyer who has already accepted the order can't open a return case, so the quicker the buyer accepts, the sooner the sale is settled. Your account shows when earnings become available to redeem.

Poshmark rules sellers need to know
- You can't use Poshmark under 13. Between 13 and 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission under the Minors Policy.
- Posh Show hosts must be 18 or older.
- Poshmark collects sales tax from buyers on your behalf where it's legally required to, and pays it to the tax authority.
- You're responsible for describing items truthfully and accurately, which also protects you from returns.
For income tax on what you sell, Poshmark's pages don't replace advice. If you're reselling regularly, check with an accountant or the IRS guidance for your situation.
Poshmark fees compared with other selling apps
Poshmark's 20% looks high next to apps that charge only processing, but the comparison isn't like for like. Poshmark's rate includes the payment handling and the buyer-paid label system. If you sell on more than one app, my breakdown of what Depop takes from each sale shows a very different model, built on processing fees and optional boosting instead.
If you're building income from more than one source, my piece on making passive income with digital products is a good next read, because a reseller's photo and styling skills often transfer.

Frequently asked questions
Does Poshmark take 20% of every sale?
Only on sales of 15 US dollars and above. Below that, Poshmark charges a flat 2.95 US dollars instead, according to its Fee Policy.
Is it free to list on Poshmark?
Yes. Poshmark's Fee Policy says it's always free to list an item, and the fee is only taken after the item sells.
Does the seller pay shipping on Poshmark?
Normally no. PoshPost is a buyer-paid flat rate shipping program, so the label cost is covered by the buyer unless you offer a shipping discount.
Is the Poshmark fee taken from the listed price or the sold price?
From the final order price. Accepted offers and seller discounts change that price, so your earnings can be lower than the estimate shown when you listed.
Did Poshmark change its fees?
Briefly. A version from October 3 of 2024 used a fixed fee plus 5.99%, but Poshmark reverted to the original two-tier fee on October 24, 2024.
