How Much Does Depop Take From Sellers? (2026 Fees)

For sellers based in the US and UK, Depop takes no selling fee. You pay only a payment processing fee: 3.3% plus 0.45 US dollars per US sale, or 2.9% plus 0.30 pounds per UK sale, worked out on the item price, shipping and tax. Boosting adds 12% on boosted sales, and sellers elsewhere still pay a 10% selling fee.

If you've sold on Depop for a while, you'll remember when every sale lost a tenth of its value to a selling fee. That changed, and plenty of the guides you'll find still quote the old numbers. I've gone through Depop's own Help Centre pages so you can see what it keeps from a sale now, and what still trims your payout.

What Depop takes from a sale in the US and UK

According to Depop's Seller fees and charges page, no Depop selling fees are charged to sellers based in the UK, the US or Australia. What's left is the payment processing fee for Depop Payments, which runs through Stripe.

  • US sellers: 3.3% plus 0.45 US dollars per transaction.
  • UK sellers: 2.9% plus 0.30 pounds per transaction.
  • Everyone else: a 10% selling fee on all sales, plus whatever PayPal charges for processing, which varies by location and account setup.

The detail most people miss is the base. Depop says the processing fee is charged on the item sale price plus shipping costs and any applicable taxes, not on the item price alone. So if a buyer pays for shipping, a slice of that shipping money goes on the fee too. When you price something tight, work from the full total the buyer pays, not the tag you set.

How Depop Boosted Listings change your fees

Boosting is the one optional cost that can take a bigger bite than processing. Depop's Boosted Listings page says a boosted item appears in an extra, tagged placement in search and in Suggested for you, alongside its normal organic spot.

In the UK and US, the boosting fee is 12% of the item sale price (excluding taxes), plus the shipping cost if you arranged your own label rather than a Depop Shipping label. Depop's fee table notes this rate applies to new listings from 23 March onwards. Sellers outside the UK and US pay 8%.

You're only charged if a buyer interacts with the boosted listing, by viewing, clicking or liking it, and then buys within 28 days. If someone finds the item without seeing the boosted tile, there's no boosting fee. You can unboost at any time, but a buyer who saw the boosted version before you switched it off can still trigger the fee if they buy inside that window.

My honest view: boosting can make sense for an item that's been sitting for weeks, but it isn't free money. Check your Shop Stats first and decide whether the extra reach is worth 12% of the sale on that particular piece.

Fees Depop charges the buyer, not you

Since mid-July of 2024 in the US, Depop has added its own buyer fee at checkout for purchases in US dollars or pounds. Depop describes it as up to 5% of the item purchase price, plus a fixed amount of up to 1 US dollar or 1 pound, excluding taxes and shipping. In the UK it started on 15 April of 2024.

That fee doesn't come out of your payout. It does matter, though, because the buyer sees a higher total than your price tag. If you're competing on price with similar items, keep in mind that the buyer is comparing totals.

When Depop pays you and how the money arrives

For US sellers, Depop's How do I get paid page says the money goes into your Depop Balance 2 business days after the item shows as delivered, or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first. Pending money isn't available until delivery. Once it's in your balance, you can withdraw to a linked bank account, and transfers can take up to 5 days to show.

Depop deducts all fees before the sale proceeds reach your bank when you sell through Depop Payments. If you sell via PayPal from outside the UK, US or Australia, the money lands in PayPal first, and the selling fee and PayPal's fee come off as separate charges.

If a sale is refunded, Depop says the selling fee, processing fee and boosting fee are all reversed. With Depop Payments that happens automatically, so you don't have to chase it.

Depop seller requirements before you get paid

  • You need to be 13 or older to sign up, and over 18 to use Depop Payments or PayPal yourself.
  • If you're under 18, a parent or guardian has to verify their details for you to sell and get paid.
  • Before you can withdraw, you'll add a valid bank account, and Depop may ask for extra identity checks. The details must match the ones you used to sign up.

Tax forms Depop sends to US sellers

Depop's Help Centre says it's required to collect tax identification details from sellers who gross more than 20,000 US dollars and 200 sales in a calendar year, and that Stripe sends a Form 1099-K to sellers who meet the federal or state threshold. The form reports gross sales, including shipping, refunds and fees, which isn't the same as your profit.

Depop is clear that its tax pages aren't tax advice. If you're not sure what you owe on resale income, speak to an accountant or check the IRS guidance for your own situation. UK sellers have their own HMRC reporting page in the Depop Help Centre.

How to keep more of each Depop sale

  • Price from the total the buyer pays, since processing applies to shipping and tax as well as the item.
  • Use Depop Shipping labels where you can. Depop's boosting fee only adds shipping when you arrange your own label.
  • Boost selectively, not by default. Turning on Boost shop boosts every listing, including new ones, at the same 12% rate.
  • Bundle where it suits you. Depop's processing fee applies once per bundle transaction.
  • Check your fees in the app under My Depop, My account, then Depop Balance and Latest Transactions.
