Instagram Reels Dashboard: Where to Find Your Reel Stats

Instagram doesn't have a separate Reels dashboard; your Reels data sits in Insights or the professional dashboard on your profile, and each Reel has its own View insights screen. You need a Creator or Business account to see it.

If you've gone looking for an "Instagram Reels dashboard" and found nothing labelled that way, you're not alone. Instagram doesn't have a separate Reels dashboard. Your Reels numbers live inside the same Insights area as the rest of your account, and each Reel also has its own insights screen. Once you know the two places to look, it takes a minute.

Step zero: switch to a professional account

Insights only appear on professional accounts, which means a Creator or Business account. If you don't see Insights or a professional dashboard on your profile, switch in your account settings. It's free, it doesn't change who can see your posts, and it unlocks the numbers you need.

Where to find your Reels numbers

For all your Reels at once

Open the Instagram app, go to your profile, tap the menu and open Insights, or tap the professional dashboard button on your profile. My guide to reading your Instagram dashboard explains the three areas you'll find there: content you shared, content interactions and audience. Open the content section and filter to Reels to see how they compare with each other.

For a single Reel

Open the Reel from your profile and tap View insights below it. This is where the useful detail lives: plays, accounts reached, likes, comments, shares, saves, watch time and average watch time, plus how many viewers were followers versus non-followers and where the Reel was shown, such as the Reels tab, Explore, feed or your profile.

Menu names shift between app versions, so if a label looks slightly different on your phone, look for Insights or professional dashboard rather than a Reels-specific button.

What each Reels number tells you

MetricWhat it meansHow to use it
Plays or viewsEvery time the Reel started playing, including replaysThe biggest number and the least useful on its own
Accounts reachedUnique accounts that saw itYour real audience size for that Reel
Average watch timeHow long people stayedShows whether your hook worked
SharesPeople sent it to othersThe strongest sign a Reel will travel
SavesPeople kept it to come back toShows the Reel was useful
Follower vs non-follower viewsWho saw itTells you whether it reached new people

The dashboard guide puts it plainly: reach, saves, shares and profile visits tell you far more than likes ever will. Average watch time is one of the most useful numbers, because it tells you exactly where people stop watching.

A five-minute weekly routine

  1. Open Insights and filter your content to Reels for the last week.
  2. Sort by accounts reached, not plays, so you see what travelled.
  3. Open the top and bottom Reel and compare average watch time and the first few seconds.
  4. Check the share of non-follower views on your best Reel.
  5. Write down one change to test in your next Reels, such as a faster hook or shorter length.

Why plays can mislead you

A Reel can show big plays and modest reach if the same people watched it several times, and it can show fewer plays with strong reach if Instagram pushed it to new people even briefly. My guide to how many people see a Reel with 10k views walks through this in detail. When in doubt, trust accounts reached and average watch time over plays.

If you also post Reels on Facebook

Facebook has its own version of the same idea. My guide to the Facebook Reels performance dashboard shows where it lives in the Professional Dashboard and Meta Business Suite. If you cross-post, compare reach and watch time on both, because the same Reel often performs differently on each app.

Common problems and fixes

  • No Insights button: you're on a personal account, so switch to Creator or Business.
  • Numbers look stuck: new Reels can take a while to update, so check again later.
  • Missing older Reels: adjust the date range in Insights to look further back.
  • Can't see non-follower data: open the individual Reel's insights rather than the overview.

Reels keep earning reach after the first week

It's tempting to judge a Reel on its first day. Don't. The dashboard guide notes that a Reel can keep earning reach for a month after you post it, long after it's dropped off your own feed. So when you review your Reels, look back further than a week now and then. You may find that a Reel you thought had flopped quietly picked up reach later through the Reels tab or Explore.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

This also changes how you plan. If an older Reel is still being discovered, make a follow-up on the same topic, or pin it to your profile so new visitors find it. Your best-performing Reels are clues to what your audience wants more of, and the dashboard is where you find them.

Turning the numbers into better Reels

The point of the dashboard isn't to watch numbers move. It's to find one thing to change. If average watch time is short, rework the first second. If shares are low, ask whether the Reel gives people a reason to send it to someone. If non-follower views are low, try topics with wider appeal. One change at a time, checked weekly, will teach you more than any list of tips.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the Instagram Reels dashboard?

There's no separate Reels dashboard. Your Reels data lives in Insights or the professional dashboard on your profile, and each Reel has its own View insights screen.

Why can't I see insights on my Reels?

Insights only show on professional accounts. Switch to a Creator or Business account in your settings.

What's the most useful Reels metric?

Accounts reached and average watch time tell you more than plays, and shares show whether a Reel is likely to travel.

How do I see who watched my Reel?

Instagram shows totals and audience breakdowns, not a list of individual viewers for Reels.

Can I see Reels insights on desktop?

Some insights are available on desktop through Meta's business tools, but the fullest per-Reel detail is in the app.
