2 Million Views on Facebook: How Much Money in India?

Facebook doesn't pay a set amount for 2 million views in India; it pays a share of in-stream ad revenue on views where an ad played. My 1 million views guide puts a million views at roughly $50 to $600, so 2 million can be around double that only if the extra views carried ads.

Two million views is the point where a lot of Indian creators start checking the Professional Dashboard every hour. It feels like a number that should come with a payment. Sometimes it does, often it doesn't, and the reason has very little to do with the size of the number and a lot to do with what kind of video earned it.

What Facebook counts when it pays you

Facebook doesn't send a fee for reaching a view milestone. Money arrives through in-stream ads, Stars and, for some pages, content monetisation on Reels. With in-stream ads, you keep about 55 percent of the ad revenue and Meta keeps roughly 45 percent. A view only earns if an ad played while it was being watched.

That's why my breakdown of 1 million views in India starts with ad impressions, not views. In its worked example, a page with a million views across Reels and longer explainers turned only part of that traffic into monetised impressions, because short Reels under 90 seconds mostly carry no ad break.

Running the numbers for 2 million

Start from the figures already on this site. A million views in India typically pays somewhere between $50 and $600 through in-stream ads. Two million views roughly doubles the starting point, but only if the extra views came from the same mix of formats and audiences. If the second million came from one short viral clip, the jump can be far smaller.

Creators also search for 3 million, 4 million and 5 million views. The same logic applies at every step: multiply only the views that carried an ad, then adjust for niche and audience location. A view count on its own will always overstate what you'll be paid.

What you checkWhy it matters
Share of views on videos over one minuteOnly these can carry in-stream ad breaks
Average watch time past the first ad breakViewers who leave earlier earn nothing
Audience countriesUS, UK and Gulf viewers pay more than most Indian audiences
NicheFinance, tech and business pull higher ad rates than memes or reaction content
Stars during live sessionsRoughly 1 Star equals 1 US cent to the creator

The niche effect, in rupees

The clearest example on this site is the 1 lakh views on Facebook guide. It compares a cooking video with a finance explainer, both on 1 lakh views. The cooking video, at roughly Rs 35 per 1,000 views, paid about Rs 1,925 after the revenue share. The finance video, at Rs 80, paid around Rs 4,400. Same views, more than double the money.

Hold that thought when you look at your 2 million views. If you're in entertainment, the number can feel disappointing. If you're in a commercial niche with longer videos, it can be a meaningful month.

Eligibility catches people out

You can't earn from in-stream ads until the page qualifies. The requirement on this site is at least 10,000 followers and 600,000 total watch minutes across your videos in the last 60 days. A page that hit 2 million views on a Reel but hasn't qualified will see views and no money. Check the monetisation section of Professional Dashboard before assuming a payment is on the way.

Getting more out of the next 2 million

  1. Turn the topic of your best Reel into a three-minute video so it can carry mid-roll breaks.
  2. Post at the times your Insights show your audience online, not the times a generic guide suggests.
  3. Go live once a week and ask regulars to send Stars if they find it useful.
  4. Pitch two or three brands while your view screenshots are recent, with audience location included.
  5. Put one affiliate link or lead magnet in your best-performing captions.

A single brand deal can often pay more than months of ad share on the same reach. The free Facebook money calculator is a quick way to see both bands side by side, using your own views and followers.

Mistakes I see after a big month

  • Spending the money in your head before checking whether the page qualifies.
  • Copying a payout screenshot from a creator in a different niche or country.
  • Posting more short clips to repeat the spike, when longer videos are what carry ads.
  • Ignoring the comments, which are often full of people asking where to buy or learn more.
  • Waiting for brands to find you, instead of sending a short pitch with your numbers.

None of these are fatal. They just mean the views do less work than they could. Fixing even two of them usually changes your next run of videos more than chasing a bigger view count.

The honest summary

Two million views tells you the content travels. What it pays depends on ad impressions, niche, audience and whether you're eligible at all. Work out your own rate from the dashboard, then spend your energy on the formats and deals that turn reach into steady income.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Facebook pay for 2 million views in India?

There's no fixed rate. Facebook pays a share of in-stream ad revenue on views where an ad played. My 1 million views guide puts a million views in India at roughly $50 to $600, so 2 million can be around double that, depending on format, niche and audience.

Why did my 2 million views pay so little?

Usually because most views came from short Reels with no ad break, the audience was in a low ad-rate region, or the page isn't yet eligible for in-stream ads.

How many views do you need to get paid on Facebook?

There's no view minimum on its own. For in-stream ads the requirement is at least 10,000 followers and 600,000 watch minutes in the last 60 days.

Is 5 million views on Facebook more than double 2 million?

Only if the extra views came from ad-eligible videos with similar audiences. Payout follows ad impressions, so view counts and money don't move in step.

Do Facebook Stars count towards view earnings?

No, Stars are separate. Viewers send them during live videos or on posts, and roughly 1 Star equals 1 US cent to the creator.
