Are you qualifying your prospective leads?
I’d like to take a side step away from talking about how to use your content to bring in leads, and talk with you about how to ensure the leads you bring in are QUALIFIED. After all, who wants to waste their time talking with leads who are not the perfect fit?
I want to show you how you can qualify prospective leads to find out whether they are WORTH pursuing. Because, let’s face it, not all of the leads you’re generating are actually worth pursuing. So, instead of focusing your attention on leads that won’t get you results, try to qualify your leads so that you can only focus on those leads that will generate you REVENUE.
When qualifying leads, there are three main things that you need to look into:
- What their commitment level is like
- Whether they are a right fit for you as a person or business
- Whether they have the budget to be your client
Ideally, you should try to find these things out as soon as possible, before you get to the actual stage of speaking with them to discuss details.
You need to find out if they are truly committed to working with you, because the reality is, many people aren’t really prepared to make the changes they need to improve themselves or their business. They might want to, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re actually going to do it.
There are many options for an entrepreneur when it comes to the type of business they would like to form. One example is the general partnership. For more information, consider this resource on how to become a general partnership.
Next, you need to find out whether they are the right fit for you. This is another reality that you have to face: as much as you want to work with as many clients as possible, some of them would simply not mesh well with your personality, or your methods. You can avoid a messy breakup that would bring more harm than good by disqualifying these leads from the start.
And last but not least, you need to determine whether they have the budget or not. In my personal experience, a lot of people will reach out to you, looking for help, only to find out later on they don’t actually have enough, or any money to pay you.
What I do to start qualifying my leads is I send them to this link first:
There, they need to go through a series of questions, all designed to help me evaluate whether they are a good fit for me to work with.
For example, I’ll ask them about their business, what they do for their clients and what they are charging them. This question helps me determine whether their business is a good fit and how likely they are to have the budget to work with me.
Next, I’ll ask them about their goals. With their answer, I can better determine what their level of commitment is like.
All of these questions are mandatory for booking a call, plus there’s an extra space where they can leave any comments – the more they answer, the easier it is for me to determine the quality of the lead.
Qualifying your leads will help save you very valuable time, help you make more money and it will even help you lead a more stress-free life, as you won’t have to deal with as many flighty leads. So, don’t bark at the wrong tree – go directly to the leads that will actually get you results.
