Yes, Snapchat pays creators in Australia: Australia is on Snap's payout list, so adult Snap Stars who qualify earn a share of the ads shown in their Public Stories and Spotlight videos, based mainly on watch time, with no published rate per view. Snap pays in US dollars through Hyperwallet from a minimum of 100 US dollars, which you then withdraw to an Australian bank account or PayPal.
Australian creators ask me two things about Snapchat money: does it pay here, and what does the under-16 ban change? Snap does pay in Australia, and for creators aiming at the monetisation programme the ban changes less than you'd think, but it does reshape who's watching. Let's go through both.
Is Australia eligible for Snap's creator payouts?
Yes. Snap's list of countries and regions eligible for payouts names Australia under all three programmes: Creator Midroll Ads within Stories, the Spotlight Reward Program list and Lens Creator Rewards. New Zealand is on there too, so creators on both sides of the Tasman are covered.
Being on the list just means your address won't hold you back. You still have to qualify as a creator, and Snap's bar is high.
The under-16 rule and what it means for Aussie creators
On December 10, 2025, Australia banned Snapchat for anyone under the age of 16 under the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Act 2024. Snap's monetisation programme already requires creators to be at least 18 or the age of legal majority, so teenage creators were never able to cash out on their own. Elsewhere, Snap's payout rules let under-age creators receive money only with parent or guardian consent.
The bigger effect is on your audience. If a chunk of your viewers were younger teens, they can't hold accounts in Australia now. Since Snap's ads are served mainly on how long people watch, losing younger viewers can change your numbers. Check your audience age and location in Insights and plan content for the viewers you still have.
Qualifying for monetisation from Australia
Snap's Monetization Program page sets out the hurdles. You need at least 50,000 followers and fifteen thousand hours of view time over the last 28 days, with at least 3,000 of those hours from Spotlight. You must be a Snap Star, post original content that advertisers are comfortable with, and live in an eligible country, which Australia is.
Spotlight clips must be at least 30 seconds long to earn revenue. Snap doesn't give a follower count for Snap Star status; it's granted for a large, engaged audience, regular public Stories, authenticity and some cultural relevance, and Snap stresses that nobody is entitled to it.
What sets an Australian creator's earnings
There's no Australian rate per thousand views from Snap, and any figure you read without a named source is a guess. Your earnings are a share of revenue from ads in your Stories and Spotlight videos. That share grows with longer viewing, with advertisers wanting your audience, and with a niche brands pay to reach.
The useful habit is to watch your own Creator Rewards Hub (My Creator Rewards in your profile) month by month, alongside your watch time. That trend tells you more than any national average could.
Moving the money into Australian dollars
Snap pays through Hyperwallet. You set up a Payout Portal using your full legal name, which must match your Hyperwallet details. Creator Rewards stay Pending for 14 days, then turn Available, and you can cash out whenever you have at least 100 US dollars. Snap converts everything to US dollars, so your money arrives in Australia after a conversion into Australian dollars (AUD, the currency the Reserve Bank of Australia has issued since it went decimal on 14 February 1966).
Hyperwallet lets you withdraw to a bank account or PayPal, and charges transaction fees based on the method and the currency conversion. Allow an additional 14 days or longer for cash to land after a cash out.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
On tax, Snap's payout page refers creators outside the US to forms such as W-8BEN, and Australia is on the IRS list of countries with a United States income tax treaty. How that income sits in your Australian return is a question for a local accountant, not for me.
Earning more than Snap's share in Australia
Most Australian creators I'd point to earn from a mix: Snap's ad share, brand partnerships and other platforms. Snap's Brand Partnerships toggle lets brands contact eligible creators about collaborations. YouTube's Partner Program is open in Australia too, and my piece on what YouTube pays Australian creators explains how its revenue share compares.

A word on Lenses, because Australia gets them and plenty of creators skip them. Lens Creator Rewards are a separate payout route on Snap's list, so if you enjoy building AR effects, a Lens that catches on can earn alongside your Stories. It suits designers and developers who'd rather not be on camera every day, and it doesn't depend on the same follower count as Story ads.
Whichever mix you choose, keep posting public Stories on a steady schedule. It's one of the signals Snap looks at for Snap Star status, and it's the habit that keeps watch time climbing between viral moments.

Frequently asked questions
Does Snapchat pay Australian creators?
Yes. Australia is on Snap's payout list, so creators who meet the follower, view time and Snap Star requirements share in ad revenue from their Stories and Spotlight videos.
Can teenagers in Australia earn from Snapchat?
Not on their own. Snap's monetisation programme requires creators to be at least 18 or the age of legal majority, and Australia's minimum age law bars under-16s from holding accounts.
How do Australians receive Snapchat payouts?
Through Hyperwallet. Rewards convert to US dollars, and you withdraw to an Australian bank account or PayPal, paying any conversion and transaction fees.
Is there a fixed Snapchat rate per view in Australia?
No. Snap doesn't publish a rate. Earnings depend mainly on how long people watch, plus advertiser demand for your audience.
Is Snapchat+ part of creator pay?
No. Snapchat+ is a paid subscription for users, not a payment to creators.
