How Much Does YouTube Pay per 1,000 Views in Nepal?

YouTube doesn't publish a Nepal rate per 1,000 views; your RPM depends on viewer location, niche and format. Nepal is on the Partner Program list for ad revenue, and payouts come by wire transfer or check to a Nepali bank, which converts them into Nepalese rupees.

Nepali YouTube has exploded, from vlogs in Kathmandu and Pokhara to podcasts, Lok Dohori songs and trekking films shot in the Himalaya. If your channel is growing, you'll want to know what each thousand views brings in. YouTube won't give you a Nepal price list, so I'll show you how the earnings are built and what you can do to raise them.

YouTube monetisation in Nepal: the official position

Nepal is on YouTube's list of countries where the Partner Program is available, so Nepali channels can earn ad revenue once they qualify. That's confirmed on YouTube's own help page, and it's the starting point for everything else.

Nepal isn't on the expanded programme list, though, and it doesn't appear on the lists for channel memberships or for Super Chat and Super Stickers. So the fan-funding features some creators rely on aren't available to Nepali channels through YouTube. YouTube Premium is available in Nepal, which helps a little, because Premium watch time counts toward a creator's revenue.

Hitting the bar from Nepal

Without the lower tier, you need the full requirement: 1,000 subscribers, plus 4,000 qualified watch hours within 12 months, or 10 million qualified Shorts views within 90 days. A Nepali podcast or a long travel film builds watch hours steadily, while Shorts can grow subscribers quickly but take a lot of views to qualify on their own.

My tip: use Shorts to bring people in, and make sure each Short points to a longer video. That way the subscribers you gain turn into the watch hours you need.

Why a view from Kathmandu and a view from abroad earn differently

The figure YouTube shows you is RPM: your earnings per 1,000 video views after YouTube's share, counting every view including ones with no ad. YouTube's analytics help explains that geography affects CPM, the amount advertisers pay. So the same video can earn a different amount per thousand views depending on who watched it.

Plenty of Nepali channels have a big audience among Nepalis living and working overseas. Those viewers sit in different ad markets from viewers inside Nepal. Check the Geography report in YouTube Studio to see where your views come from; it often explains a jump or dip in RPM better than anything else.

Other things that move your RPM

  • Your subject. Education, tech and finance videos often draw higher ad spend than music or comedy.
  • Watch time per video. Longer videos can carry mid-roll ads, which add up.
  • Shorts versus long-form. Shorts revenue is pooled monthly and creators keep 45% of their allocation, so it behaves differently from long-video ad income.
  • Advertiser-friendly content. Limited ads mean lower earnings even with big view counts.

Receiving YouTube money in Nepalese rupees

YouTube pays through AdSense for YouTube. For Nepal, Google's payment methods table lists check and wire transfer, and EFT isn't available. The bank must be in the same country as your payments address, so you'll need a Nepal bank account in your name for a wire.

The Nepalese rupee doesn't appear among the reporting currencies on the AdSense thresholds page, so your account will most likely run to the US dollar threshold of 100 US dollars. When it pays out, your bank converts the money to NPR. Before anything is paid, Google asks you to verify your identity, and an address check is triggered at 10 US dollars or its local equivalent.

The US tax step Nepali YouTubers miss

YouTube asks all creators to submit US tax info in AdSense for YouTube. If you do, only earnings from US viewers face withholding, at 0 to 30% depending on whether your country has a treaty with the US. Nepal isn't on the IRS list of US income tax treaties.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

Leave it unsubmitted on an individual account and YouTube says 24% of your worldwide earnings will be withheld. That's a big hit for a small channel. For your personal tax position in Nepal, please talk to a local accountant; I can only tell you what YouTube documents.

Income that doesn't depend on YouTube ads

Because memberships and Super Chat aren't open in Nepal, Nepali creators do well to build income outside YouTube's own tools. Brand deals with Nepali companies, from mobile networks to clothing labels, are the most common. Selling a course, a preset pack or a guide to your audience works too.

If you want more ways to earn from home, my guide to online jobs in Nepal is a good next read, and if you're also posting short video elsewhere, I've written about what Snapchat Spotlight pays in Nepal. For a country with the same YouTube restrictions, the Ghana YouTube guide is a useful comparison.

Estimating a million views in Nepal

Your own RPM is the only reliable guide. Find it in YouTube Studio under Revenue, then multiply by your expected views in thousands. Do it per video type, because a Short and a long vlog rarely earn the same.

Frequently asked questions

How much does YouTube pay per 1000 views in Nepal?

YouTube doesn't publish a rate for Nepal. Your RPM, or earnings per 1,000 views after YouTube's share, depends on where your viewers are, your topic and your format. You'll see your own RPM in YouTube Studio.

Is YouTube monetisation available in Nepal?

Yes. Nepal is on YouTube's Partner Program availability list, so ad revenue is open to qualifying channels. Nepal isn't on the expanded programme, memberships or Super Chat lists.

How do Nepali YouTubers get paid?

Through AdSense for YouTube by wire transfer or check, according to Google's payment methods table. The bank must be in Nepal, and it converts the payment into Nepalese rupees.

Do Nepali YouTubers pay US tax?

YouTube withholds US tax only on earnings from US viewers once you submit tax info, at 0 to 30% depending on treaty status, and Nepal isn't on the IRS treaty list. For your own tax, speak to an accountant in Nepal.

Why are Nepali YouTube earnings per view so different between channels?

Because RPM depends on viewer location, niche, video length and how many views showed ads. A channel watched mainly by Nepalis overseas can earn differently from one watched mainly inside Nepal.
