Good Gemini prompts for a business owner name who you are, paste the material, state the job and set the shape of the answer. Use them for emails, quotes, content plans, summaries and spreadsheets, and ask for the result as a Doc, Sheet or PDF when you need a file. Google says Gemini can make mistakes, so check numbers and any legal or financial point before you use an answer.
There are plenty of Gemini prompt lists online, and most are about photo edits and party tricks. This one is for the other side of your week: the emails, quotes, summaries and spreadsheets that eat your evenings. Every prompt below is mine, written for a small business owner, with square brackets where your details go.
Gemini suits these jobs because it's built to brainstorm, summarise complicated topics and draft first versions of emails and outlines, which is how Google describes it. It can also hand you a finished file, such as a Sheet or a PDF. The prompts lean on all three. If you haven't started yet, my first-week guide to Gemini covers the setup.
What makes a good Gemini prompt?
Four ingredients: who you are, the material, the job and the shape of the answer. Leave one out and you'll get something generic. Put all four in and you'll get something you can send after a quick edit.
Save the version you like in a note on your phone or in a Doc, so you're not rebuilding it from memory each time. Over a month you'll end up with a small library that's all yours, and each prompt gets sharper every time you reuse it.

Give me a fair table of pros and cons, say what information is missing, and tell me what would change your view.
What should I check before I use the answers?
Google's own help page is direct about this: Gemini Apps can make mistakes, so double-check the responses and don't rely on them as professional advice. I add three habits to that. Check every number against your source. Check any claim about a law, a tax or a regulation with a qualified person. And keep client details out of anything you wouldn't want stored, using a temporary chat for sensitive one-offs.
Tools that work with these prompts
These prompts pair well with the tools you already own. Google Docs and Sheets are the obvious home for the files Gemini produces, Gmail is where most of the emails end up, and a project tool such as Trello or Asana can hold the tasks that fall out of a summary. If you'd like to build a bigger library of prompts like these, my AI prompts for marketing is a good next stop.
If you want prompts and routines tuned to your own business, this is how I work with business owners.
Frequently asked questions
What are good Gemini prompts for small business?
The best ones state who you are, give the material, name the job and set the shape of the answer. Emails, quotes, content plans, summaries and spreadsheets are the jobs where they save the most time.
Can Gemini create a spreadsheet from a prompt?
Yes. Ask for the response as a spreadsheet and Gemini can create it as a Sheet or in formats such as Excel or CSV, which you can download or export to Drive.
How do I make Gemini sound like me?
Paste three examples of your own writing, ask it to describe your style in a few points, then ask it to write the new piece in that style. Edit the result before you send.
Can I trust Gemini's answers?
Treat them as a first draft. Google says Gemini Apps can make mistakes and advises you to double-check responses and not rely on them as professional advice.
Should I put client information into Gemini?
Be careful. Remove names and identifiers first, and use a temporary chat for sensitive one-off questions, since those don't appear in your activity or recent chats.
