No internet games are games that run entirely on your phone or computer once installed, so they open and play with mobile data off, on a flight, or anywhere the signal drops. The list below has 1,116 free ones, searchable by platform and genre, plus the 20 I would install first and a 30-second test to check any game before you download it.
Next step on this topic: free offline football games for android.
Most "free" games in the app stores are not really no internet games. They open to a login screen, pull adverts, or refuse to start until they have phoned home. The games on this page are different: they are open source or freeware, which means the whole game is on your device and nothing is held back on a server. I keep this list for the same reason a lot of readers in Pakistan, India and the Philippines search for it: data is not free, coverage is not reliable, and a game that stops working the moment the bars disappear is not worth the download.
If you want the wider list of offline games with the download steps for each store, that lives on my 1000 free games to play offline page. This page is narrower: games that need zero data, ever.
The 20 no internet games I would install first
All free, all playable with the connection off, all still maintained in 2026. Names are plain text: type the name into the Play Store, F-Droid, the App Store, Steam or itch.io and it will be the first result.

- 0 A.D. (PC): real-time strategy in the style of Age of Empires.
- OpenTTD (Android, PC): transport and business simulation.
- Unciv (Android, PC): a Civilization-style 4X game that runs on a cheap phone.
- Andor's Trail (Android): open-world RPG with hundreds of quests, tiny download.

The 30-second airplane mode test
Before you trust any game on a long journey, do this once. Install it while you have wifi and open it once so it finishes any first-run download. Then switch on airplane mode and open it again. If it reaches the main menu and lets you start a level, it is a no internet game. If it sits on a spinner, shows "check your connection", or asks you to sign in, it is not, whatever the store listing says. Every game in the table below passed this test on at least one platform, or is open source with no online component at all.
No internet games for Android
Android has the biggest free catalogue because of F-Droid, an app store that only lists open-source apps and bans adverts and trackers by policy. Install F-Droid once (it is a small download from its own website), search the Games category, and everything you see runs offline. Of the 1,116 games in the table, 393 come from F-Droid. If you only want the Play Store, the same games are usually there too, sometimes under the developer's name rather than the game title. Good starting points on a phone with little storage: Andor's Trail, Shattered Pixel Dungeon, Simon Tatham's Puzzles and 2048, none of which is over 30 MB.
No internet games for PC
On Windows, Mac or Linux the strongest offline titles are the big open-source projects: 0 A.D., OpenTTD, Battle for Wesnoth, Endless Sky, Freeciv and Xonotic. They are full games, not demos, with campaigns that run for dozens of hours and no account to create. Older freeware and commercial-turned-freeware games, many from the DOS era, are also in the table; those usually need a free emulator such as DOSBox, which is itself offline. For no-download browser games that still work offline once loaded, see my free PC games with no download list.
No internet games for iPhone and iPad
The App Store has fewer open-source games, but the ones that exist are good: SuperTuxKart, Simon Tatham's Puzzles, Luanti, Unciv (via TestFlight or the community build) and a growing number of itch.io games with iOS builds. Filter the table below by Platform "Other" and search "ios" or the game name to find them. Apple's own rule that apps must work without a network for their core function means most paid puzzle and strategy games are offline too, but this list only covers free ones.
The full list: 1,116 free no internet games, searchable
This is the database behind the picks above, pulled from four public sources (the F-Droid open-source catalogue, Wikipedia's lists of open-source, freeware and commercial-turned-freeware games, and itch.io's free games tagged offline), de-duplicated by name. Every one costs nothing and runs without a connection once installed. The last column says why each game is free.
| Game | Platform | Genre | What it is | Year | Why it is free |
|---|

Frequently asked questions
Which games can I play without internet?
Any game whose logic and levels are stored on your device. Open-source titles, freeware and most single-player games from F-Droid or itch.io run with no connection at all. The table on this page lists 1,116 of them; the notes column says when a title has an optional online mode.
How do I know if a game needs internet before I download it?
Look at the permissions and the description on the store page. A game that asks for network access and mentions leaderboards, daily rewards or a login usually needs data to open. After installing, put your phone in airplane mode and open the game; if it loads past the title screen, it is a no internet game.
Are no internet games free?
The ones on this page are. Open-source and freeware games have no price, no ads by policy on F-Droid, and no in-app purchases. Commercial games often have an offline mode too, but that is a different list.
Can I play no internet games on iPhone?
Yes, though the free open-source catalogue is smaller than on Android because the App Store has fewer of them. SuperTuxKart, Simon Tatham's Puzzles and several of the PC titles have iOS builds; search the name on the App Store.
Do no internet games use mobile data at all?
Not while you play. Some check for updates when you next connect, which is a few kilobytes. If a game keeps using data in the background, it is not really an offline game and you can find a replacement in the table above.
