Today I want to show you how you can get more subscribers to your list and generate more leads by using content downloads, a simple way of building your list by offering something of interest to someone reading your blog.

Did you know that content marketing is one of the best tools marketers have for lead generation? In fact, as many as 83% of B2B marketers are using content marketing for lead generation.

Why? The reason is simple: good content gets RESULTS. It helps you build up your subscribers list, generate more leads and improve your conversion rates. Not to mention, it also boosts your influence and can help you become a thought leader in your niche.

One of the best and easiest ways of using content marketing for lead generation is through content downloads.

Email marketing is still one of the most effective ways of generating leads, but in order for your email marketing campaigns to be successful, you will need targeted subscribers to email!

Sure, you can get lots of great leads with other types of downloadable content, but when you’re including content downloads in your blog posts, you are increasing their relevancy to the visitor – which means, more leads and more conversions! They are also easier to produce, as you already have your blog post as a starting point.

First, focus on creating quality content that offers value to your audiences:

– What are your audiences’ interests?

– What do they want to learn more about?

Then, as you create awesome content for your audience, use the opportunity to add content downloads.

The best type of content to include in content downloads in are guides and how-to posts, or posts with extensive lists of useful tools, apps and so on. These are the types of content that people will download so that they can refer back to in the future, when needed – look at it as an alternative to bookmarking, in a way.

Because they’re already reading/viewing your blog post, then it’s much more likely that the content download is relevant to them => which then means, they are much more likely to CONVERT.

Many websites only tend to have one or two opt-in forms on, such as an e-book or checklist. And while these are great for list building and lead generation, when you add a relevant content download to your guides or how-to posts, they are highly targeted and very specific, hence leading to a higher conversion rate than your other opt-ins.

I often create a checklist to go with the blog PDF  as that offers even more value to my audience and as a result, my conversion rates are much higher.  And they’re super quick and easy to create – just use a tool like Canva, and you can create a checklist for your blog post in just minutes.
