10 Strategies That Can Double Your Website Traffic

Youโ€™ve set up your website, but youโ€™re struggling to see any growth in traffic. Many businesses face this dilemma. Itโ€™s easy to use quick fixes, like paid ads, and thereโ€™s nothing wrong with that approach.

But if you want sustainable website growth, you must focus on methods to grow your organic traffic.

Here are some strategies you can take to double your website traffic:

1. Focus on On-Page SEO

Search engine optimization (SEO) can drive organic traffic to your website. Itโ€™s one of the largest factors that determines how your website will rank on search engine result pages (SERPs). If you do SEO correctly, your website will rank higher for the keywords youโ€™re targeting.

That brings us to keyword research and optimization. You need to identify relevant keywords and include them naturally in your content.

You also need to focus on search intent. That means your content needs to address the concerns of your target audience. This step comes down to how much value your content is adding and the expertise youโ€™re showing.

2. Use Social Media

In 2023, a userโ€™s average time on social media came to 151 minutes a day. And youโ€™ll be kicking yourself if you donโ€™t tap into this usage.ย

Use this opportunity to create brand awareness, share links to your content or products, use hashtags to get noticed, and engage with your followers.

Posting videos is another great way to drive traffic to your website. By creating trending content, you can incorporate a call to action (CTA) and ask viewers to visit your site.

3. Connect With Your Audience

Social media is just one way to connect with your audience. You should also make use of email newsletters. Itโ€™s a more targeted form of connection, as you can customize the newsletter to display the recipientโ€™s name.

What should you include in your newsletters? Here are some ideas:

  • Links that will take your readers to your website
  • Enticing information snippets that will cause the reader to want to find out more
  • Clear images or icons
  • A well-structured layout

Ensure your emails and newsletters are mobile-friendly since about 49 percent of people open their emails on phones.

4. Write a Blog

A blog is an easy way to drive organic traffic to your website. Itโ€™s appealing to both search engines and users.

Well-written blogs will make the reader pause, linger, read on, and share the blog on their social media pages.

Blogs can show that you know what you’re talking about, which builds trust with your audience. Google also ranks trustworthy sites higher.

5. Work With a Marketing Agency

Sometimes, itโ€™s better to leave it to the experts. Suppose you canโ€™t manage your marketing activities effectively. You could hire a marketing agency.

For example, if you own a law firm and are trying to get more clients, you can contact a legal marketing agency. These marketing agencies, like Grey Smoke Media, elevate law firms to national distinction using custom marketing tactics. They can help drive more paid and organic traffic to your law firmโ€™s site.

6. Make Use of Digital Advertising

Although the end goal for many is to get organic traffic, sometimes a little boost from digital advertising is all you need. You could invest in pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. It can quickly help you get more visitors to your site, potentially boosting your sales.

With PPC, potential customers can see your ad whenever they search for services or products like yours. Youโ€™ll only pay for the ad when someone clicks on it, so you wonโ€™t waste your budget.

7. Focus on Local Search

Local search optimization means youโ€™re targeting people in your area. It can give you an edge over your local competition.

Focus on local keywords that include the area name (e.g., beauty salon in Colchester), and make sure you have a Google Business Profile set up. Ensure youโ€™re in local directories. This step can help with getting more people to your website.

8. Optimize Images

Optimizing images will help Google understand what the image is about. Include alt text and descriptive file name. This way, youโ€™ll appear on Google Images, which can drive people to your site.

Optimized images will also improve page load times. Using high-quality images makes your website visually appealing, increasing the user experience.

9. Backlinking

When trustworthy websites link to yours, search engines consider it a stamp of approval. That can boost your siteโ€™s credibility and help you rank higher, which means more people will see your website.

But how do you get backlinks?

Start by creating high-quality content that has real value. Your content should be โ€œlink-worthy.โ€ For instance, you could write guides, listicles, or helpful tutorials.

You can also work with influencers and experts, sharing your content with them. If they like it, they might link to it.

10. Mobile Optimization

Almost half (58.67 percent) of web traffic comes from mobile devices, so you should invest in creating mobile-friendly content.ย

Itโ€™s not just for the users. Google favors mobile-friendly websites, ranking them higher. As a result, you get more organic traffic.

Final Thoughts

Doubling your website traffic is not impossible, but it will take time and patience. Whereas digital advertising can quickly boost traffic, organic methods like backlinks and SEO can take months to show results.

But donโ€™t despair. If you stick to it and adopt the methods above, you will slowly start seeing those figures increase.
